Engine Repair, Service, and Maintenance

The timing belt is the engine part that needs the most common major service. Belts should be checked around 60,000 miles and again at 100,000 miles.

Oil leaks are a sign of an engine needing service, almost always can they be attributed to a result of poor maintenance. As a result, seals become hard and dry and fail to protect against fluid loss. Catastrophic engine failures may result from leaks like this.

A clean engine is a happy engine. Make sure you get fluid flushes and fuel injection cleanings as recommended by the manufacturer. Clearwater Radiator can tell you definitively when your car is due.

Tune-ups are a good resource for your vehicle. We provide tune-up with a 12-month warranty. A tune-up means different things for different cars, but it usually involves spark plug wire inspection, spark plug replacement, a thorough diagnostic inspection of engine parts, the setting of the timing belt and/or timing chain, and the replacement fuel filters and air filters where applicable.

FAQ

The engine light is a sign to take your vehicle in for service. It can be warning of anything from a loose gas cap to a serious engine misfire that can possibly cause expensive repairs.
Anytime you see your check engine light, it means your vehicle is excessively emitting emissions, which threatens your safety, public safety, vehicle performance, and reliability and MPGs. Be on the safe side. If you see your check engine light, call us and we will set you up an appointment with our experienced mechanics.
The check engine light being yellow means the engine is not running at maximum efficiency. This increases the pollution your car is emitting and lowers your gas mileage. On the other hand, a red light indicates there’s an issue and that you should get it checked as soon as possible. If the light is flashing, immediate service is required, even if the light doesn’t flash continuously.
If the check engine light is flashing, immediate service is required, even if the light does not flash continuously.
It’s not so much a reset issue, but rather an indicator of a malfunction in the engine’s emissions. If your car’s issue was truly resolved, the check engine light may just go out on its own. If it doesn’t, you can bring it to Clearwater Radiator and our mechanics will use a scanner tool to clear the code.
